The Cybertruck has been a menace on America’s roads since it launched, slicing open one owner’s leg, annoying residents of Maine and trapping all kinds of limbs in its openings. Now, it turns out that the angular atrocity is also ruining the virtual world as well.

The Cybertruck is available to drive in games like Fortnite and Rocket League as part of a Summer Road Trip bundle that gamers have been able to download for a few weeks. However, using the Cybertruck in Fortnite sparks a bug that can brick your progress on the game, reports Engadget.

When you hop in any other truck on the game and regenerate it as a Cybertruck, the move can reportedly prevent certain weapons from working, according to Engadget:

Posts about the Cybertruck glitch appeared on Reddit and YouTube. The glitch happens when you morph a truck into Elon Musk’s boxy behemoth. On exiting the vehicle, a bug rendered your Nitro Fists, the melee weapon that’s pretty much exactly how it sounds, completely useless.

The glitch was showcased by YouTuber Tabor Hill, who uploaded gameplay footage of the bug this week. In the clip, the player shows their weapons working fine before they hop into a Mercedes G-Wagen and transform it into a Cybertruck. After driving around for a few seconds, they hop out again and their weapons don’t work.

That’s a pretty irritating glitch! It’s not uncommon for new game aspects to have some sort of issue, but this had to be frustrating for players. Thankfully, a fix for the bug was rolled out to Fornite players who are now free to cosplay being a Tesla bro.

The Cybertruck has also become something of a culture war on wheels since it launched. The car is loved by Tesla fans but hated by most normal people, who are exactly the kind of customers that Tesla is struggling to sell to right now.

Japan Expo Paris is the largest Japanese pop culture convention outside of the country it honors, so you can always expect some incredible cosplay from the four-day convention. This time around, Omaruisfed and Mineralblu teamed up to bring us the best looks from Japan Expo 2024, from a beloved (but unexpected) Baldur’s Gate 3 trio to several iconic One Piece characters. The 2024 Summer Olympics are officially over and Tom Cruise put them in the rearview mirror with a stunt that could have doubled as an ad for next year’s Mission: Impossible sequel. And he didn’t even break a leg this time.

It shouldn’t necessarily come as a surprise that the movie obsessive would be the one to do the hand-off between the 2024 games and the 2028 event in Los Angeles. No one still living embodies Hollywood quite like Cruise, and if anyone was going to jump down from the stadium rafters for a hokey publicity stunt it was going to be the guy who regularly mugs the camera outside theaters to keep the dream of the double-feature matinee alive.

After tumbling down from the Stade de France catwalk and taking the stage to officiate the passing of the Olympic torch between Paris and L.A., Cruise put the Olympic flag on a motorcycle and took off into the night. A pre-filmed segment then followed showing Cruise arriving by plane into the U.S. before eventually being spotted by a transformed Hollywood hills sign. The closing ceremony wrapped up with a concert on Venice Beach featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. “Can’t Stop” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” were played, both of which are now 20 years old.

Prior to the hand-off ceremony, Cruise was spotted at other matches throughout the Summer Olympics, most noticeably the women’s soccer final where, sporting big, dark aviators, he enthusiastically joined the thunderous applause when Mallory Swanson cemented the U.S. national team’s victory with a beautiful goal in the 57th minute. It was Cruise who got the applause last night, however, with an outpouring of appreciation for his rollercoaster ride to becoming the last major movie star in the world.

The 2024 Summer Olympics themselves felt at points like an unusual return to the days of everyone tuning into and reacting to the same blockbuster movie, TV show, or sporting event, the type of thing Cruise now seems to have made it his life’s mission to preserve.
